Hidden Elephant

I'd never thought of a turkey baster or a vacuum cleaner hose as musical instruments until I saw the Robert Minden Duo's performance of "Hidden Elephant". Using an incredibly imaginative mix of words, song and "found sounds" the duo told the true story of two circus elephants who were separated for years and were later reunited in a sanctuary.

I recently had the privilege of working with the duo as they composed and performed the soundtrack of my newest film - "Rethink Happiness". In exchange, I made them these drawings!

51 Weeks early!

I made this for my mom for Mother's Day... a week late.. or 51 weeks early, depending on how you look at it. To my mom, who knows a lot about germs.. from me, who thinks they look like rugs and have articulated limbs.

Ode to Snow

I recently acquired a copy of Scrap Mettle, a collection of "fast art" by Scott Morse a super awesome talented artist whose works I drool over on a regular basis. Thanks to his inspirational words and pictures, I've decided to delve into the perilous world of water and colour again.

This was inspired by the magical snowy weekend we just had which passed all too quickly when the weather went back to 12 above and the pouring rains washed it all away.

Head Over Heels in Lovebird

As much as I enjoy animal life drawing, the only creature I have access to on a regular basis is Dili's psychotic lovebird, Hassan. As one can probably guess from the drawings, he scratches himself a lot when he's not busy screeching and attacking my moving pencil.

Flight of Pink Fancy

Meet Mimi the Pink Dragon. I was introduced to her last night in a dream where she took me on an amazing flight through lush green forests. (I know Mimi is a lame name for a dragon but as I've learned awhile back, my subconscious moves in odd, odd ways.) I hope I'll get to meet her again somenight.
